A Community Kitchen will be established, which will operate from the Geelong West Neighbourhood House.
Community Kitchens are an evidenced-based initiative that connect, develop, educate and strengthen communities.
As a local community-based organisation, Geelong West Neighbourhood House are partnering with other organisations such as Barwon Health, the Geelong West Community Garden and Murnong Community Garden to establish this valuable community initiative in Geelong West.
The Community Kitchens program is an effective way to learn about healthy food and how to cook.
A group of people will meet regularly to make friends, socialise, have fun, and cook and eat fresh and nutritious meals together in a supportive environment. Each group will decide how their kitchen will run. They will choose when they meet and what food they will cook.
The philosophy of Community Kitchens is to develop a sense of community around food. It is an innovative approach to improving the health and wellbeing of local communities.
