$7,115

Road Safety Education Limited (RSE) is a not for profit, leading learning organisation operating throughout Australia and New Zealand. RSE are committed to creating communities free from road deaths by equipping young people to take lifelong responsible action through best practise road safety education.

RSE have received a $7,115 Benefit Geelong grant to deliver the Ryda Road Safety Program to approximately 660 Year 11 students across the Geelong district in June 2026 to Feb 2027.

Road trauma is the leading cause harm for Australian adolescents and young adults (aged 15–24), often resulting in lifelong physical and mental health impacts. The aim of their Ryda program is to back up the physical skills of driving with the harder to develop cognitive life-skills required to better assess risk and make improved choices when facing challenges on the road, to drive with social responsibility and save lives and prevent injuries.

RSE’s objective is to improve outcomes for young people, ensuring they thrive and improve community safety as a whole. The program is the most evaluated road safety program in the country. It is annually reviewed and updated based on current best-practice techniques, the latest road safety information available as well as being informed by feedback received through our multiple teacher and student surveys.

RSE have been delivering our Ryda program to Greater Geelong students since 2017 and demand for the program builds each year. At least six Geelong schools will participate in the Ryda program as part of this grant.
