Hellenic Orthodox Community of Geelong – First Aid Training

$2,700

The Hellenic Orthodox Community of Geelong is a cornerstone of the Greek-Australian community in the Greater Geelong region, dedicated to preserving and promoting Hellenic heritage, culture, and faith.

Established by Greek migrants in the 1950-60s seeking to maintain their traditions while integrating into Australian society, the Community has grown into a vibrant hub for social, cultural, religious, and educational activities.

The Hellenic Orthodox Community of Geelong have been granted a Benefit Geelong grant to hold a series of first aid training sessions for members of multicultural communities in Geelong, specifically the Greek and Serbian Community and any other cultural communities based in their immediate vicinity.

The project aims to build essential life-saving skills, increase confidence in responding to medical emergencies, and promote community safety.

Grant funds will be used to cover the costs of the St John’s First Aid Course which covers qualified instructors, training materials, and culturally appropriate resources to ensure accessibility and engagement for all participants.

The project will support the primarily elderly members of Geelong’s multicultural communities, ensuring they have quicker access to care in emergencies, promoting safety, wellbeing, and peace of mind for vulnerable community members.
